25th annual Kitetober Kite Festival at Haulover Park
Saturday and Sunday October 21 & 22, 2017
12 to 5pm
The sky over Miami Beach will display a marvelous array of colors and figures from hundreds of kites in the air during the 2 Kite Festivals coming to Haulover Park. Expect to see the 100 foot flying squid, 30 foot flying scuba man, 300 sq foot parafoils. 30 foot flying Nemo Fish 150 foot flying rainbow and more.
Hosted by Miami-Dade Parks and Skyward Kites, these free events feature paper kite building classes & demonstrations from longtime kite enthusiasts. In addition, there will be kite-flying competitions for both children and adults.People of all ages are encouraged to come out to fly their kites, make their own kites for free or purchase an already-made kite. There is no limitation to the size and type of kite. Those who just want to watch can bring a blanket and enjoy the sight of hundreds of kites in the air and some great music. Food and refreshments & kites will be available for purchase.

One of this year’s special guest is kite master is Pete Dolphin.
Active with kites for over thirty years, Dolphin is an accomplished kite maker, sport kite performer, and American Kitefliers Association volunteer. He has served as the organization’s president and has won top honors in its comprehensive kite competition. Dolphin is an outgoing and friendly kite ambassador and has been invited to festivals around the world. Peter will be bringing the “Flying Rainbow” wind art he made himself, at 150 foot long its one of the largest in the world.
